Section 30
(1)
Any senior officer of customs may compound any offence under this Act which is prescribed to be a compoundable offence by accepting from the person reasonably suspected of having committed an offence a sum of money not exceeding six hundred dollars.
(2)
On payment of such sum of money the person reasonably suspected of having committed an offence if in custody shall be discharged, and any properties seized shall be released and no further proceedings shall be taken against such persons or property, unless the property consists of goods the import of which into the Federation is absolutely or conditionally prohibited under any written law, in which case such goods shall be forfeited.
