(2)

Any person who plants any tree in contravention of this section shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding five hundred

ringgit, and the tree may be cut down or dug up by order of the local authority.

Compensation in certain cases

(3)

Any tree standing within twelve feet of or overhanging any street or back-lane may be cut down or dug up by order of the local authority:

Provided that where such tree being a fruit tree was planted before the street or back-lane was laid out or intended for a street or back-lane, the local authority shall make such compensation not exceeding fifty ringgit to the owner thereof as is just.
