(a)
arrest any person found committing or attempting to commit or abetting the commission of an offence under this Act; and

(b)
seize any thing which he considers necessary to seize in relation to the evidence necessary to establish the commission of any such offence.
(2)
A mines officer making an arrest under paragraph (1)(a) shall without unnecessary delay make over the person so arrested to the nearest police officer or, in the absence of a police officer, take such person to the nearest police station, and thereafter the person arrested as aforesaid shall be dealt with as provided by the law relating to criminal procedure for the time being in force as if he had been arrested by a police officer.
