Section 17

Nothing contained in this Part shall be deemed to authorise the infringement of any private right or the contravention of any written law in force in the State.

Neither the Director nor the Government shall incur any liability in respect of any loss sustained by any person or any damage caused to any person in the course of or as a result of any excavation carried on under the authority of a licence granted under this Part by reason merely of the grant of such licence.
