Section 20

(1)

A question shall not be asked without notice unless the Speaker or in his absence the Deputy Speaker is of the opinion that it is of an urgent character and relates either to a matter of public importance or to the arrangement of public business and the Member has obtained the permission of the Speaker or Deputy

Speaker, as the case may be, to ask it.

(2)

Notice of every question shall be given by a Member in writing not later than fourteen (14) clear days before the sitting day on which the answer is required:-

(a)

When the Assembly is sitting by being handed to the Clerk at the Table;

or

(b)

When the Assembly is not sitting by being handed in at the office of the

Clerk within the hours prescribed for the purpose.

If a Member requires on oral answer to his question he shall mark it with an asterisk.

Notice of any question may be given by a Member in writing in the manner prescribed by paragraph (2) of this Standing Order for the next available day, in which event the question shall be put down for an answer on such sitting day next following the date on which the question has been handed in, which is not less than fourteen clear days after such date and on which the Assembly sits.
