(1)
Subject to section 20, no person, except a public officer in the course of his duties or a person employed in the Sanctuary, shall reside in or enter a Wildlife
Sanctuary, except as provided in subsections (2) and (3).
(2)
Persons may, under the authority of a valid permit, enter such part of a
Wildlife Sanctuary as may be designated as open to the public under the management plan for that Sanctuary prepared in accordance with section 13.

(3)
The Director may, under the authority of a research permit granted in accordance with section 113, permit any persons named therein to enter any part of a
Wildlife Sanctuary that is not open to the public for the purpose of scientific research only and for the period and in accordance with the conditions contained in the permit.
(4)
Any person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine of not less than twenty thousand ringgit and not more than fifty thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.
