Section 9
(1)
It shall be the duty of the guardian ad litem to safeguard the interests of the infant before the Court and he shall, so far as is reasonably practicable –
(a)
investigate all circumstances relevant to the proposed adoption, including the matters alleged in the application and those specified in the Second Schedule to these Rules; and
(b)
perform such other duties as are specified in the said Schedule or as the Court may direct.

(2)
On completing the investigations the guardian ad litem shall make a confidential report in writing to the Court.
(3)
The guardian ad litem may, during his investigations, refer to the Court for directions on any particular matter, and shall make such interim report to the Court as appears to him to be necessary.
