Section 26

Subject to any regulations made under this Part any person in full-time service who has completed a period of nine years of such service reckoned from the date of his attestation or (if he enlisted before attaining that age) the date on which he attains the age of eighteen years, may, if he so desires and with the approval of the competent authority, be permitted to re-engage for such further period in full-time service as will make up a total continuous period of twenty-one years of full-time service.

Any person who will within one year complete a period of twenty-one years’ full-time service may, if he so desires and with the approval of the competent authority, continue to serve in all respects as if his term of full-time service was still unexpired.
