(1)
Subject to any regulations made under this Part, a recruit may apply for discharge before the expiration of a period of three months beginning with the date of his attestation, and if he makes such an application, he shall on payment of a sum prescribed by the competent authority be discharged with all convenient speed.

In this section the expression “recruit” means a person enlisted in accordance with the provision of this Part who has not been previously enlisted in any of the regular forces.
