Notwithstanding any written law to the contrary, any offence committed under this Act shall be deemed to have been committed in
Malaysia for the purpose of conferring jurisdiction on a court to try that offence, and a Sessions Court or a Court of a Magistrate of the
First Class shall each have full jurisdiction and powers for all purposes under this Act.
(2)
Subsection (1) shall not be construed as derogating in any way from the jurisdiction and powers of the High Court to try any offence under any written law.
(3)
Any proceedings under this Act shall be brought before the
Sessions Court or the Court of a Magistrate of the First Class which is nearest the place where the offence under this Act was committed or which is located in the most convenient place for trial in the circumstances of the case, as determined by the Public Prosecutor.
(4)
This section shall be without prejudice to the Criminal
Procedure Code [Act 593] relating to the transfer of cases.
