(2)
If the person referred to in subsection (1) wishes to register any variant of a geographical indication and the geographical indication is the subject of an application for registration, the registration of the variant shall be made in a different application for registration.
(3)
If the geographical indication applied for registration contains or consists of a word which is not in Roman characters, or the national language or English language, the applicant shall furnish the Registrar with—
(a)
the transliteration of the geographical indication;
(b)
the translation of the geographical indication; and
(c)
any information as determined by the Registrar.
(4)
If the applicant does not comply with the requirements under this section within the prescribed period, his application for registration of geographical indication shall be deemed to be withdrawn.
(5)
For the purposes of subsection (1), “person” means—
(a)
any person who is carrying on an activity as a producer in the geographical area with respect to the goods and includes an association of such persons; or
(b)
a competent authority.
