Section 86
Desertion
Any police officer who, without reasonable cause, the onus of proof whereof shall rest with him, absents himself from duty for a continuous period of fourteen days or in circumstances which show that he has the intention of not returning to his duty shall be deemed to have deserted, and shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months.

Where a person has been convicted under this section, the
Disciplinary Authority may direct that all arrears of pay due to such person be forfeited.

In subsection (1) the expression “police officer” includes an extra police officer, a member of the Police Reserve and Police
Volunteer Reserve when mobilized under this Act and any member of the police force of another territory present in Malaysia under this Act.
