Section 79
(1)

Any person who, whether he is a licensed hunter, a holder of a special permit or otherwise, sets, places or uses any poison, bait, poisoned bait, birdlime or net for the purpose of hunting any wildlife commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to both.

(2)

This section shall not apply to any public officer who places or uses any poison in the course of his official duties for the purpose of destroying agricultural pest or noxious vegetation subject to the supervision of the Director as to the setting or use of the poison.
