Issuance of legal aid certificate in civil and syariah proceedings

Section 23
(1)
After investigating the application pursuant to section 22
and after payment of the prescribed fee made by the applicant, the
Director General may issue a legal aid certificate to the applicant if the Director General is satisfied that—
(a)
the applicant has reasonable grounds for bringing, defending, continuing or becoming a party to the proceedings; and
(b)
the applicant meets the criteria and the means test as prescribed by the Minister.
(2)
The aided person shall comply with any directions given by the Director General and is entitled to any rights and privileges, in accordance with this Act and the regulations made under it.
