Section 96
The loading and unloading of animals must be arranged by and at the sole risk of the consignor or consignee. Station staff will, on request and at the responsibility of the consignor or consignee, render such assistance as may be practicable, consistent with the numerical strength of the staff at the station, without charge.
(b)
Animals are required to be delivered at the station in sufficient time before the departure of the train by which they are to be despatched to enable loading to be safely performed.
(c)
Consignors are required to make all arrangements for animals to be taken over expeditiously on arrival at destination. If animals are not removed from the destination station within four hours after the wagon has been placed for delivery the animals will be retained by the Railway Department at the owners’ sole risk and expense. The Railway Department cannot undertake responsibility in respect of the feeding of such animals and is entitled to recover from the consignor or consignee, as the case may be, any expenses which may be occasioned thereby.
