Duty to assist in preventing escape

Section 40
(1)
It shall be the duty of the medical officers of the hospital to which a prisoner has been removed under section 37 to lend all assistance in order to ensure that the necessary precautions for

preventing the escape of the prisoner under treatment in the hospital have been taken.
(2)
It shall be lawful for the medical officers in subsection (1) to take such measures for preventing the escape of the prisoner as shall be necessary:
Provided that no measures for preventing the escape of a prisoner shall be taken which, in the opinion of the medical officers, is likely to be prejudicial to the health of the prisoner.
