Remission of sentence
With a view to encouraging good conduct and industry and to facilitate reformative treatment, a prisoner sentenced to imprisonment of more than one month, shall be entitled to be granted a remission of his sentence.
(2)
All or any part of the remission for which a prisoner may be entitled may, on commission of an offence under section 50 or an offence relating to parole, be cancelled by the Commissioner General:
Provided that in no case shall any forfeiture exceed the amount of remission earned at the time of commission of the offence.
(3)
The Commissioner General may restore to a prisoner all or any part of a remission which the prisoner has forfeited during his sentence.
(4)
A prisoner who is awarded a remission of part of his sentence shall be discharged upon the expiration of so much of his sentence as shall remain after deducting from it such part.
