Section 158

Section 158

Sections 152 to 155 inclusive shall apply to all foreign ships while within North Borneo to the same extent as they apply to British ships:

Provided that those sections and section 157 shall not apply to –

(a)

any Safety Convention ship which carries a Safety Convention certificate; or

(b)

any ship of a country other than a Safety Convention country with regard to which it has been declared by Order of Her Majesty in Council that the provisions in force in that country relating to life-saving appliances are as effective as those of the Merchant Shipping Acts, on proof that such former provisions are complied with in the case of that ship.
