(1)
Where a seaman is discharged before the Superintendent, he shall receive his wages through or in the presence of the Superintendent, unless a competent court otherwise directs.
(2)
If in such a case the owner or master of a ship pays the seamen’s wages within North
Borneo in any other manner, he shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of one hundred dollars.
