Section 161
Every sea-going mechanically propelled British and North Borneo ship, if employed to carry passengers, shall have her compasses properly adjusted from time to time; and every such ship not used wholly as a tug shall be provided with a hose capable of being connected with the engines of the ship, and adapted for extinguishing fire in any part of the ship.

If any such ship plies or goes to sea from any port in North Borneo and any requirement of this section is not complied with, then for each matter in which default is made the owner, if he is in fault, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of two thousand dollars, and the master, if he is in fault, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of one thousand dollars.
