Section 30
Railcars may be hired when available at the discretion of the Traffic Superintendent, who may impose conditions of maximum distance, maximum detention time or payment of deposit, and in all cases of such hire, charges are as follows:
(a)
for six seater railcar specially hired – a table of hire rates is set out in Appendix B;
(b)
for fifteen seater railcar specially hired – 17 sen per kilometre per passenger, with a minimum of twelve adult passengers subject to a minimum charge of seventy five ringgit;
Children under the age of twelve years are conveyed at half the prescribed rate subject to the prescribed minima. Fraction of five sen being rounded off the next higher five sen;
(c)
detention fees are charged, additional to the hire rate, at five ringgit per hour over three hours, part of an hour being calculated as one hour;
(d)
when detained overnight, with the express permission of the Traffic Superintendent, an overnight detention fee, additional to the hire rate, at twenty ringgit is charged;
(e)
when a railcar is hired between the hour of 5.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m., an additional charge of ten ringgit for the first eighty kilometres and thereafter at five ringgit for every additional fifteen kilometres, part of fifteen kilometres being calculated as fifteen kilometres;
(f)
the Railway Department reserves the right to permit other persons (up to seating capacity) to travel in the railcar. Such additional passengers are charged at the rate of thirty five sen per passenger per kilometre.
Children under the age of twelve years are conveyed at half of the prescribed rate, fraction of five sen being rounded off to the next higher five sen.
