Section 44

Any passenger who desires to travel to a station beyond that for which a ticket is valid must tender payment of the additional fare to the guard or ticket collector and obtain an excess fare receipt. A passenger who fails to tender payment of the additional fare before the train depart from the station or stage to which the ticket is valid is liable to be charged in accordance with paragraph (e) of rule 43.
