(1)
A Port Health Officer may inspect any medicines or medical stores or appliances with which any ship is under the provisions of this Chapter required to be provided, and for the purposes of such inspection shall have all the powers of an inspector under this Ordinance.
(2)
If the Port Health Officer is of the opinion that the articles inspected are deficient in quantity or quality, or are placed in improper receptacles, he shall give notice in writing to the Superintendent and also to the master, owner or agent of the ship, and the master of the ship before proceeding to sea shall produce to the Superintendent a certificate under the hand of the Port Health Officer that the default found by him has been remedied, and if that certificate is not so produced, the ship shall be detained until the certificate is produced; and

if the ship proceeds to sea, the owner, master or agent of the ship shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of five hundred dollars.
