“animals” means all animate things other than human beings;

“goods” includes luggage, parcels, vehicles or other movable property of any description and animals whether alive or dead conveyed by passenger, goods or mixed trains;

“luggage” or “passenger luggage” which term includes personal luggage, means such articles of personal use and convenience as are usually carried by passengers for their personal use according to their habits or custom with reference either to their immediate necessities or the ultimate purpose of the journey, but does not, except in the case of merchandise carried by bona fide commercial travellers for the purpose of exhibition as samples, include articles or other valuables which, though carried in the baggage of passengers or otherwise, are not designed for personal use, or which are carried for purpose of hire, sale, trade or profit;

Railway (Tariff Book) Rules 1979

“Ordinance” means the Railway Ordinance [Cap.116.];

“parcel” means every parcel, package, fish, poultry and every other article, matter or thing conveyed at parcel rates by passenger trains and subject to the conditions provided therefor;

“perishable goods” means goods liable to rapid deterioration and include bread, fruits, vegetables, plants, meat, milk, ice and any other articles, matter or thing which may, by notification in the Gazette, be declared to be perishable goods;

“passenger” includes every person other than a railway servant on duty lawfully travelling upon any train;

“Station Master” does not include a Halt man or Station Keeper.
